Map Detail Map Parking Map Etymology

It is possible that Mt. Kaweah has never been climbed as a dayhike. It is 34 miles roundtrip from the nearest traihead, involving nearly 13,000 ft of elevation gain and loss.

In contrast to the difficulty of actually getting there, Mt. Kaweah is the easiest peak to climb aside from Mt. Whitney. It is class 1 from the High Sierra Trail up Mt. Kaweah's South Slope.
