Matterhorn Peak (12,327 ft.)

The Southeast Slope is class 2. It is a straightforward climb from Horsecreek Pass. It is easier to climb the loose scree on this slope as high and to the left as possible, rather than head for the east ridge (where you have to do more climbing over large blocks). There is some airy bouldering near the summit to keep things exciting.

The East Couloir is class 3. Climb the couloir on the east side of the east ridge (to the left as you face the mountain), and follow the ridge from the top of the couloir to the summit. Axe and crampons should be used on this route.
