Mt. Bradley (13,264 ft.)

Named by Robert M. Price in 1898

"Cornelius Beach Bradley (1843-1936) taught at Oakland High School, 1875-82; instructor and professor of rhetoric at the University of California, 1882-1911. Bradley was a charter member of the Sierra Club, and one of the 27 who signed the articles of incorporation on June 4, 1892. He was a director of the club until 1902, and was editor of the Sierra Club Bulletin, 1895-97.

The peak was named on July 5, 1898. 'But unfortunately I was not on hand to save the other party from the serious indiscretion of naming their peak Mt. Bradley. I protest that I had done nothing to deserve such treatment at their hands. ... there seems now no way to remedy the mischief, unless it be by making the ascent myself some time, and stealing the record!' (SCB 2, no. 5, Jan. 1899: 273-74.)"
