Named by Sierra Club in 1940

"Thomas Crowder Chamberlin (1843-1928), glaciologist, and the ranking geologist in America during his time. He researched glacial phenomena and studied the evolution of climates through geologic periods. The name was suggested by the Sierra Club; approved by the BGN, November 1940."
