Named by T.S. Solomons in 1895

"Named by Theodore S. Solomons and Ernest C. Bonner in July 1895. '... a massive rock which rears its head at the angle formed by the canyon and gorge. This rock, which we have called Emerald Point, is of a bright green color. ...' (Solomons in Appalachia 8, no. 1, 1896: 46.)"
