Finger Rock (9,606 ft.)

"Possibly named by the USGS during the 1903 survey for the Tehipite 30' map; it appears on the first edition, 1905.

"About ten mountains and rocks, including the high peaks in Kings Canyon NP and Yosemite NP, are so named because of their shape. The name also occurs as a generic term: Columbia Finger [Yosemite NP].However, Finger Creek [San Mateo Co.] was named for Theodore Finger, who settled here in 1855 (Alan K. Brown)."
