Mt. Hopkins (12,304 ft.)

Named by R. B. Marshall in 1909

"When the USGS mapped the region in 1907-09, its chief geographer, R. B. Marshall, named the four peaks of the divide in memory of the "Big Four" magnates of the Central Pacific Railroad: Charles Crocker, Mark Hopkins, Collis P. Huntington, and Leland Stanford. The four peaks are almost equal in height."
- Erwin Gudde, California Place Names
