"Named in June 1879 by Lt. Macomb of the Wheeler Survey. 'I was accompanied by Mr. Thomas Richardson, who has a sheep range in Cherry Valley and vicinity, and who is perfectly familiar with the rugged country south of the Relief Trail.' (Macomb, Report, 1879: 257.) The name is on atlas sheet 56D as 'Richardson's Pk.' It became 'Richardson Peak' on the first Dardanelles 30' map, 1898."
