Temple Crag (12,976 ft.)

Named by BGN in 1929

"The beautiful crag was earlier named Mount Alice for Mrs. Alice Ober of Big Pine, who chaperoned a party of young people on a trip to this region. The BGN decided in favor of the present descriptive name."
- Erwin Gudde, California Place Names

"The name appeared as 'Mt. Alice' only on the first Bishop 30' map, 1913. It was changed to 'Temple Crag' before 1930. (BGN, Sixth Report, 748.)"
- Peter Browning Place Names of the Sierra Nevada
