Trojan Peak (13,947 ft.)

Named by BGN in 1954

"The name was suggested by Chester Versteeg and Ralph A. Chase to honor the University of Southern California 'Trojans' -- the athletic teams. The namers had wanted to call it 'Southern California Peak,' but the BGN favored the shorter name. (Los Angeles Times, Oct 7, 1951.) The name appeared on the Mt. Whitney 30' map, 1937."
- Peter Browning, Place Names of the Sierra Nevada

Versteeg was an alumni of the University of Southern California.
