Mt. Warren (12,327 ft.)

Named by Whitney Survey in 1864

Also Fork

"Gouverneur Kemble Warren (1820-1882), army officer and topographical engineer. He collaborated with A. A. Humphreys (for whom Mt. Humphreys is named) in compiling a map of the trans-Mississippi West and publishing reports of the Pacific railroad surveys. (Lamar, 1238.)

The peak was named by the Whitney Survey; it is on Hoffmann and Gardiner's map of 1863-67. For a brief period it was thought that the local name of ' Castle Peak' referred to 'Mount Warren,' but it was actually being applied to 'Dunderberg Peak' -- which left the name 'Mount Warren' undisturbed."
