I came home today to find a random box on my doorstep, in an Amazon package but labeled from a private individual. Upon openining it, I found three books inside with a short letter.

<p> The letter was from a Ted Platou, whom I'd never met, nor corresponded with,
far as I know.

It was a kind gesture of thanks, some books that his mother had cherished back
in the 1950s. I have quite a few copies of the Hervey Voge <i>Climbers Guide to
the High Sierra</i> that I've collected online over the years, but this one was signed by Hervey on the first page:
