This was the last day of 4-day desert trip. I'd camped off SR127 near a telecom installation just north of the Saddle Peak Hills. I had a short drive in the morning for the first, and what turned out to be the only summit today. Peak 1,978ft lies northwest of the Saddle Peak Hills HP, an unassuming summit in the southeast corner of Death Valley NP. I approached the peak from the northeast off Ibex Spring Rd. The terrain is all class 2, standard desert fare with no difficulties. The distance to the summit is a little over a mile, and it would take less than 30min to reach the top. There are two points vying for highpoint, the northern one appears to be highest. Richard Carey had left a register here in 2018. His buddy Mark Adrian was the only other visitor, from 2019. I had started early, before sunrise, and with an overcast sky I would not see the sun until after I'd finished with the hike. Afterwards, I decided to call it a day and head home, knowing I would be back in the area four days later...
